History of international relations in Europe

The aim of the course is to provide knowledge of the basic facts and the context of the history of international relations. Based on that, to systemise students´ knowledge and create prerequisites for mastering further topics of their study. The study subject is built on a systematic interpretation of various phases of forming the systems of international relations from universalism to the balance of powers. The emphasis is placed on the study of the functioning of foreign policy and of the security risks arising from the international political situation. Thematically the course focuses on the period from the Thirty Years War through important milestones, including the Versailles agreements, to the beginning of World War II.
