The course acquaints students with the world economy as a system and with the science that examines this system. Students will gain knowledge about the ongoing processes of economic globalization, about the trends of the world economy, about the position of selected states in the world economy, about the problems that exist in the economy (e.g. financial crisis) and about international institutions operating in the world economy. The course further covers topics of international economic relations (trade in goods and services, capital flows, migration and trade related aspects of intellectual property rights), international monetary system or segment of developing countries.
