Doc. Mgr. Jaroslav Ušiak, Ph.D. in 2015, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor in International Relations at the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations of Matej Bel University after a successful habilitation lecture on the topic: Model of future security cooperation of the Visegrad Group countries. In 2009, he completed the National Security Course for Public Administration at the Academy of the Armed Forces of General M. R. Štefánik in Liptovský Mikuláš. He specializes in international relations and security studies, which is in itself a wide range of areas of scientific focus. The first area is defined by theoretical knowledge and research theories. The second area focuses on research into current and emerging security threats to the state and its position in them. The third area was profiled naturally in connection with the first two areas, when the need for the application phase of the acquired knowledge naturally tended to the immediate surroundings, primarily for the needs of the Slovak Republic as well as the wider Central European area. He is the editor-in-chief of the scientific journal Political Science. He is the author or co-author of several books and textbooks: Security as a Category, Security Policy of the Slovak Republic and Selected Security Documents, Security and Strategic Culture of the Visegrad Group Countries. He has also published his papers in domestic and foreign journals and conference proceedings, many of them indexed in the SCOPUS and WoS databases. He has participated in many national and international projects, lecture stays, guest positions as well as conferences at home and abroad.
